Save the OREGON BETC and the State’s CLEAN ENERGY Industry

This is actually important. Everyone needs to stop the legistlators and whoever else is in on the deal from cutting the BETC down from 50% to 30% and capping it at HALF its current cap. This will destroy all solar projects in the state’s economic viability and radically hurt all wind and biofuels projects. Very stupid when the only real positive job growth in the state is coming from clean energy/clean tech

I’m writing a detailed “how-to” guide for clean tech investors, entrepreneurs and developers on how to access Federal stimulous dollars which should be available for free to interested parties very soon. See the previous blog post for some very good information that is already available from a Presentation made by DWT in Seattle at the end of February.

On February 24th DWT hosted an oversubscribed panel and reception on the energy-related tax and appropriations provisions of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. A great update from Climate Solution and good reason for optimism about the possibilities for cleaner vehicles in the U.S.

Dear Ted,

President Obama wasted no time in removing a federal thorn in the side of state climate solutions. On Monday, he directed the Environmental Protection Agency to review – and presumably reverse – its refusal to allow 15 states, including Oregon and Washington, to get cleaner cars.

This is a victory for the country, and for you, a Climate Solutions donor. With your support, Climate Solutions helped orchestrate the passage of the 2005-6 clean car laws in Washington and Oregon. When the Bush administration blocked implementation of the standards, we joined the coalition to sue the EPA. You were with us all the way.

Today we can celebrate a milestone in the long journey to get clean cars. But tomorrow, it’s back to work. These modest improvements in vehicle technology are just one part of the climate solution. If our federal and state leaders are serious about reducing our fossil fuel dependence and building a strong new energy economy, they need to get the show on the, er, rails and sidewalks and HOV lanes.

During this session in both Washington and Oregon, legislators will face historic votes on regional climate policy. We have the opportunity to implement the most ambitious regional cap on climate pollution in the country. We face enormous opposition, but Climate Solutions will be leading the charge with our new Repower campaign. Thanks for standing with us.
